Barlív™ Barley Beta Glucan
Cargill's high purity ß-glucan can be used in food
products for both its technically functional properties (such
as viscosity building, texture control, and moisture management)
and its potential health benefits. The primary health benefit
associated with a diet high in oat ß-glucan (and low in saturated
fat and cholesterol) is a reduction in the risk of heart disease.
Emerging science indicates that barley ß-glucan has a similar
benefit. Other potential health benefits that warrant further
investigation include modulation of insulin/glycemic response,
increased satiety that may assist with weight control or weight loss, enhanced
intestinal function through provision of fermentable fiber, blood
pressure control, and immunity enhancing properties.
